Safety and fun near water

Children always have a great time at the lake or seaside. Sand, water, sun, mud... what else might one need? That is why such a holiday trip is an excellent idea. However, in order for that trip to be safe, it is a good idea to stock up on a couple of useful gadgets and remember about a few important things. Let us start from the beginning. It is a good idea to supply babies with swim diapers. We can either buy disposable ones available in every larger store, or invest in reusable ones. They will obviously come in handy not only on the beach, but also at the swimming pool. Yes, they are warm enough, but we should remember that a little baby is not yet in full control…

Telehealth – ecotechnology of today!

Let’s start with a few questions... Do you have the impression that your doctor should know more about your child in order to be able to treat them efficiently? Do you have problems with booking a medical appointment? Are you overwhelmed by queues, waiting, stress and the cost of every single visit? Would you like to always have available the history of all the diseases that your child went through, together with the list of medicines applied, so that every doctor with whom you consult the health of your child has access to such information? Are you afraid of your child being exposed to another infection during a visit at the outpatient clinic or at the hospital? Do you think that a doctor should take into account all the health…

What can replace the traditional sugar? The sweet, the sweeter and the sweetest

In relation to the previous post on my blog I’d like to devote a few words to what can replace the traditional and the most widespread sweetening substance, that is, sucrose made of sugar beets and sugar cane. Some promote the use of honey while others encourage using xylitol, also known as birch sugar. Among natural sweeteners we can also find stevia. Which of these is the best and worth recommending? For starters, let me provide a few pieces of information on each of them. Xylitol is a natural sweetener obtained from birch trees. Let’s start with its advantages. It’s as sweet as sucrose but has 40% less calories. Additionally, it has anti-bacterial and anti-fungal properties. It reduces the risk of dental caries by reducing plaque. The bacteria that cause…

Phew… It’s so hot…

Summer will soon be in full swing, so we should think about a few gadgets that might seem fancy at first, but will make our children’s lives a lot easier during hot days. I’d like to focus on the youngest, particularly those who will experience summer for the first time. [caption id="attachment_492" align="alignright" width="307"] Woollen nappy covers by Puppi (www.igle-figle.pl)[/caption] On hot days newborns and infants tend to get nappy rash on their bottoms and legs. Often the cream or powder protection may turn out to be insufficient, especially in case of disposable nappies. In such situations we should consider using, at least during sweltering days, woollen nappy covers and bamboo inserts, for example those offered by Puppi company (www.igle-figle.pl). The nappy covers are made of thin flannel made entirely…

ABC of travelling with children

The summer holidays are knocking at the door and soon we, the parents, will have to deal with the troublesome issue of what to take on a trip with children. Perhaps it will be only a short trip to the lake with our toddler, but it might also be a longer one with a preschooler. Irrespective of where we’re going, we should arm ourselves with several things that will make it easier for us to survive in the beautiful nature. Here’s a travelling kit fit for true travellers and explorers! A like ALERT and first AID kit, obviously properly and comprehensively equipped. Next to the basics such as bandaids, woven bandages, elastic bandages, scissors, gloves and thermal insulating blanket here are some other things worth taking: gel compresses for application…

Eco-technologies – solutions for parents who want to support the natural environment

If you are reading this text then you are probably a parent or a soon-to-be parent... Or maybe you are only planning to have children? Irrespective of your situation, it is worth becoming familiar with one of the top trends of modern parenting, that is, eco-parenting. It is not only about avoiding detergents and food additives, saving energy or using a bike instead of a car. Yes, all these things are very good for protecting our natural heritage, but they are not everything. When most of us think about technology, we associate it with complex designs and even more complex production methods, but is there any place for ecology in it? Sure there is! So, how can one make a starter kit for our little one that is worthy of…

Traglings, wrapsies and wrap-crazies

Dear Moms and Future Moms! I’d like to dedicate today’s post to carrying children in a wrap. Since I am a huge fan of wrap-carrying, I’m obviously going to encourage you to try it as well. Do you know that already in the 24th week of pregnancy your child starts hearing sound? Scientists demonstrated that already around the 16th week of pregnancy the foetus can receive sound stimuli through skin and amniotic fluid, despite not having a developed hearing apparatus and centre. What does a foetus hear? Mainly heartbeat, sounds coming from the digestive tract and those created by blood flowing through the vessels. They also hear the voice of their mom and some of the sounds coming from the outside. These sounds accompany them until their birth, when the…
